Exhausted By Perfectionism

Exhausted By Perfectionism?

Why it is that adult’s feel they must excel at everything they try?

Why must we be competent or skillful to experience success and enjoyment?
Is perfection that important?

Face facts! No one is born perfect at anything, so, striving for perfection can create frustration and disappointment, Perfectionism is a heavy weight to carry and something we would never require of a child.

Watch children that are learning a new game, They know that doing things imperfectly is part of the learning process, that trying new things leads to new insights, a new way of looking at things and new skills, Instead of being embarrassed by failure, they laugh, jump up and try again.

When we let go to perfection and allow ourselves to do things imperfectly, we come to see how perfect we are, just the way we are! It's a subtle difference but it’s true. Our lives become more perfect when we let go of perfectionism

I have let go of perfectionism

Effective Feedback in workplace

1. The intention of your feedback may be more important than your content. Ask yourself: what is my purpose in giving this feedback to this person right now?
2. Be liberal with your offering of feedback about strengths and what is going well.
3. Feedback needs to be well timed and given in a nonjudgmental way.
4. Check to determine if the other person is ready for feedback, if not ask what they need to be ready and receptive.
5. Feedback is more helpful when it is concise, clear and straightforward.
6. Feedback is more effective when it is focused on observable and specific behaviours.
7. To offer effective feedback we must also be open to receiving feedback.
8. Ongoing feedback in small dosages is more productive than saving it up for a year end review.
9. Avoid global feedback, focus on specific behaviors and actions.
10. When trust and safety is strong others will be more open to constructive feedback.
11. Whether you are giving or receiving feedback it is helpful to remember that feedback often says as much about the person giving it as the person receiving it.

Which is your Day, Live for what you want

Living what you love is a mind-set. It’s an attitude. Approach life with a bit of idealism and the possibilities are endless.

1) Have an Idea? Give it a Day - Identify your dreams. Allow your mind to discover your passions, consider the possibilities and identify what brings you joy, laughter and happiness.

Have you ever spent a full day thinking about your dreams and goals? Have you ever given those dreams the focus and attention they deserve? Schedule a day to consider the possibilities. Remove yourself from telephones, e-mail and other distractions. Go for a drive in the country or a walk in the woods, but make sure it lasts a whole day.

2) Prioritize - Living what you love does not always mean quitting your job and running off to paradise. Perhaps you sense that something is missing yet you aren’t looking for a major transformation. Maybe it’s as simple as figuring out a way to go horseback riding once a month or start writing a book you’ve been thinking about for years.

Consider how you can squeeze a little more passion into your life. It’s usually just a matter of evaluating your priorities and coming up with a plan. Put your plan in writing and you’re on your way.

3) Have Courage – Changes big and small involve some level of risk. It’s scary – even for us! But the path of least resistance usually offers the least reward. So, how do you find the courage to take a risk? If you think about it, the real risk is letting life steer itself.

Have the courage to do something that makes you feel alive. Something that makes you grow, learn and discover new things. You will never know if you can do something until you try.

4) Use Your Experiences – Life experiences have purpose, meaning and significance. You just have to stop, look, and examine what your own experiences can show you. Remember that no experience is required to gain experience. You just have to live with your eyes wide open so you don’t miss a thing. Think about experiences you’ve had or people you’ve met that may be helpful in making a change.

5) Tie Your Dreams to Reality – Develop a step-by-step plan and your dream will start to feel more like reality. Do your homework and figure out exactly what needs to be done. Once you map out a path that feels right for you, you’ll be ready to take the first step.

6) Consider the Big 4 – There are four checkpoints that need to be in order … Passion, People, Environment and Money. Are you in the right location to follow your dream? Are you surrounding yourself with people who support you in your quest? Do you have the passion? Do you have the resources to make these adjustments? To move toward a life you love, all four of these need to be in place.

7) Trust It or Adjust It – Feelings – instinct and intuition – should be at the core of your life. To succeed in living a life you love, you need to completely believe in what you are doing. Taking risks is easier when you believe in your decisions. If something doesn’t feel right, reevaluate the situation and adjust it.

8) If You Want It, Make It – Living what you love requires action. Action is the first step toward commitment to a project. It can turn your fear of change into excitement about your future. Each day is an opportunity to accomplish something, big or small, and each accomplishment adds to the rush of making it happen.

9) Remember – The joy in living a life you love is remembering it. Material things come and go but the memory remains. Each day becomes a treasure if you live a life worth remembering. Reflect upon all of the memories you have created and see which ones stick out the most. Chances are, those will be the ones that guide you in the future.

10) Live What You Love - Follow your heart. Follow your passion. Spend your time doing the things you really care about surrounded by people you love.

Which is Your DAY

Living what you love is about following dreams, feeding your soul and discovering a true sense of peace, purpose and identity. It means finding beauty in the most unexpected places, and rekindling the same sense of curiosity and wonder you had as a child.

When was the last time you closed your eyes and made a wish? When we were small we’d blow out our birthday candles, and during those five fleeting seconds, hopes and dreams rushed through our heads. And when Jiminy Cricket urged us to wish upon a star, we all tried it at least once. The magic of a wish coming true was too wonderful to pass up.

So when exactly did you stop wishing? When did you start doing things you had to do instead of things you wanted to do? When did your dreams get buried under the responsibilities of adulthood?

Read, enjoy and think about your life. Return to the site again and again. Open your mind to the possibilities. Are you living what you love? Reflect … explore … dream … what are you waiting for?

Live for What You Love thats YOUR DAY then.

Which is YOUR DAY

The day you take complete responsibility for yourself, is the day you stop making any excuses, that's the day you start to the top
