Fuel your resolutions with passion

While every day is an opportunity for change, New Year’s Day is extra special in that regard. It's a time for you to create new beginnings.

If you have made and broken resolutions in the past and don’t see the point anymore, don’t give up! There is something you can do to secure your success.

Successful "Resolvers" create passion. You can too. Passion is created in two ways. First, your resolution must be your own. If your resolve is to please someone else, you won't be successful, secondly, you must be able to see and feel the results. Visualize what you'll look like and feel like if you lose weight, quit bad habits or make more money.

Whatever you resolve to do this year make it yours, see it and feel it, you’ll achieve amazing results simply by infusing your resolutions with passion.

I am approaching my tasks with a fresh sense of curiosity

Adventure is as near as stepping out your front door

Too often we think of adventure as this big event that we have to plan way in advance.

We think arrangements must be made, schedules coordinated, flights booked, time off secured, etc.

With such planning the "Adventure" of the adventure is easily lost.

Adventure is really a decision to do something that inspires awe, from within. It can be simple, uncomplicated and spontaneous.

When you're out and bout, today, try to look at things in a new way. Approach yours tasks with a fresh sense of curiosity. See something new, smell something’s new, tough something new.

Dare to explore and enjoy the experience of living. You will discover that adventure is easily found in an otherwise ordinary day.

Dream Vs Real Life

Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today

Attitude you bring into life

Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.

Lesson from Life

The difference between school and life? In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson.

Desire

Desire is the starting point of all achievement; not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire, which transcends everything.

Emotional Freedom Techniques

The Holidays are once again upon us, which mean fun, family, festivity, and most of all feasting. It seems that once Halloween is here, there is a little green light that goes off, signaling the beginning of the Holiday buffets. Our times are filled with family, friends, and celebration. Just the mention of the word Holiday can bring visions of cookies, pastries, chocolate, and any other delectable foods to mind that I have tried so hard to stay away from. It seems that once the Holiday parties begin, it is just a given that the Holiday cravings should go right along with it. The good news is, there is a way you can beat those Holiday cravings and still have a fun and happy Holiday. It's called EFT

Find the best in u and act towards it

We were born and this is our life. At the end of the day no one is responsible for my happiness more than I myself. People often say they want appreciation and recognition (non-financial) at the workplace to feel motivated and have a positive attitude towards work. But why? Since when did non-recognition amount to de-motivation?. Years ago, officials rejected a candidate for news broadcasters post since his voice was not fit for the job. He was also told that with his obnoxiously long name, he would have trouble being recognized. This person is Amitabh Bachchan! Another example is of a student who was scolded by a school teacher for not paying attention to his mathematics and for not being able to solve simple problems. She told him that he would not become anybody in life. This boy was Albert Einstein!

Love your mom "Never & Ever take things for granted" Life is meaningless without her

When you came into the world, she held you in her arms. You thanked her by wailing like a banshee.

When you were 1 year old, she fed you and bathed you. You thanked her by crying all night long.

When you were 2 years old, she taught you to walk. You thanked her by running away when she called.

When you were 3 years old, she made all your meals with love. You thanked her by tossing your plate on the floor.

When you were 4 years old, she gave you some crayons. You thanked her by coloring the dining room table.

When you were 5 years old, she dressed you for the holidays. You thanked her by plopping into the nearest pile of mud.

When you were 6 years old, she walked you to school. You thanked her by screaming, "I'M NOT GOING!"

When you were 7 years old, she bought you a baseball. You thanked her by throwing it through the next-door-neighbor's window.

When you were 8 years old, she handed you an ice cream. You thanked her by dripping it all over your lap.

When you were 9 years old, she paid for piano lessons. You thanked her by never even bothering to practice.

When you were 10 years old, she drove you all day, from soccer to gymnastics to one birthday party after another. You thanked her by jumping out of the car and never looking back.

When you were 11 years old, she took you and your friends to the movies. You thanked her by asking to sit in a different row.

When you were 12 years old, she warned you not to watch certain TV shows. You thanked her by waiting until she left the house.

Those Teenage Years

When you were 13, she suggested a haircut that was becoming. You thanked her by telling her she had no taste.

When you were 14, she paid for a month away at summer camp. You thanked her by forgetting to write a single letter.

When you were 15, she came home from work, looking for a hug. You thanked her by having your bedroom door locked.

When you were 16, she taught you how to drive her car. You thanked her by taking it every chance you could.

When you were 17, she was expecting an important call. You thanked her by being on the phone all night.

When you were 18, she cried at your high school graduation. You thanked her by staying out partying until dawn.

Growing Old and Gray

When you were 19, she paid for your college tuition, drove you to campus, carried your bags. You thanked her by saying good-bye outside the dorm so you wouldn't be embarrassed in front of your friends.

When you were 20, she asked whether you were seeing anyone. You thanked her by saying, "It's none of your business."

When you were 21, she suggested certain careers for your future. You thanked her by saying, "I don't want to be like you."

When you were 22, she hugged you at your college graduation. You thanked her by asking whether she could pay for a trip to Europe.

When you were 23, she gave you furniture for your first apartment. You thanked her by telling your friends it was ugly.

When you were 24, she met your fiancé and asked about your plans for the future. You thanked her by glaring and growling, "Muuhh-ther, please!"

When you were 25, she helped to pay for your wedding, and she cried and told you how deeply she loved you. You thanked her by moving halfway across the country.

When you were 30, she called with some advice on the baby. You thanked her by telling her, "Things are different now." When you were 40, she called to remind you of an relative's birthday. You thanked her by saying you were "really busy right now."

When you were 50, she fell ill and needed you to take care of her. You thanked her by reading about the burden parents become to their children.

And then, one day, she quietly died. And everything you never did came crashing down like thunder. "Rock me baby, rock me all night long." The hand who rocks the cradle ... may rock the world".

Let us take a moment of the time just to pay tribute and show appreciation to the person called MOM though some may not say it openly to their mother. There's no substitute for her. Cherish every single moment. Though at times she may not be the best of friends, may not agree to our thoughts, she is still your mother!!!

Your mother will be there for you; to listen to your woes, your braggings, your frustrations, etc. Ask yourself "Have you put aside enough time for her, to listen to her "blues" of working in the kitchen, her tiredness???"

Be tactful, loving and still show her due respect, though you may have a different view from hers. Once gone, only fond memories of the past and also regrets will be left.

DO NOT TAKE FOR GRANTED THE THINGS CLOSEST TO YOUR HEART. LOVE HER MORE THAN YOU LOVE YOURSELF. LIFE IS MEANINGLESS WITHOUT HER.

Look Within To Find Happiness

A close friend said' "If I could only figure this out, I think I could find happiness." I have heard this before and will hear it again I am sure.

Many people want to believe that finding happiness is all about finding something else they want. Not many have ever found long term happiness by achieving another goal.

The answer to finding happiness is to look within. In other words, happiness is completely an inside job. The most important piece to finding happiness is to comprehend happiness is a choice and not the result of an experience. If all happiness could be found as the result of an acquisition, meeting a goal, or having anything, then a person's happiness would always be subject to something else.

Remember this: one definition of happiness is simply the absence of an opposite emotion whether it is pain, sadness or something else. If the opposite emotions are never experienced then happiness can never be experienced either. Think about it like this: bad times allow you to appreciate good times; hunger allows you to appreciate food; and sadness allows you to appreciate and experience happiness.

The dictionary defines happiness as enjoying, showing, or marked by pleasure, satisfaction or joy.How often do you hear... "I'll be happy when"? When I get that job, I'll be happy. I'll be happy when I find a life partner. I'd be happy if I had more money. These, and all the other "if I had", scenarios are following the same reasoning; that happiness is based on external circumstances. If you base your happiness on external circumstances, you will continuously fail to find happiness.

There will always, always be another external circumstance. There will always be another dollar, another job, another house, or another partner. Better, more, else.To break this vicious cycle, we must find our happiness somewhere else. That somewhere else is within. We have been given everything we need to be happy.Allow yourself to choose happiness. If life was perfect would you be happy? Life is perfect because we create it with our choices.

Since we can create life, we can create happiness - and how much better can it get? When we can accept that life is perfect as it is and that our lives are the sum total of everything that has happened to this instant, only then can we accept the joy and happiness we deserve.I realize that this concept is very difficult for some to accept. However, the alternative to being happy now is to spend the rest of our lives seeking happiness as if happiness was an item to be bought or found. It's not.

Just remember the saying
- Don't worry - be happy!

7 Action Steps to Positive Thinking...

I'm sure you have a bright idea hidden somewhere in the back of your mind that you just can't wait to test out. Of course you're not the only one with the bright idea. So what motivates you to churn those creative or even inspiring juices to its utmost flavour?
It's always best to set up a personal goal where you can accomplish the most in record time, maybe like mowing the lawn in an hour before the big game on TV. A correct and positive attitude in whatever you do will make things easier, and even enjoyable...
A correct and positive attitude in whatever you do will make things easier, and even enjoyable.
Here are some tips to make it through the week even if you're just sitting in your favourite couch. An idea takes time to form in your head and is always at work while you are busy sitting.
Having a bit of positive thinking can help you realise the things that you never thought possible.

Step 1: Take passionate action towards living your life by design. Talk is cheap. Action = success of a passionately authentic future. Successful People turn their dreams into reality by Taking Action

Step 2: Commit to yourself to create successful life you can be proud of Instead of reacting, commit to creating from your heart and soul, out of love rather than fear. Your dream will always be there, but a dream will still be a dream without your commitment. Take action with commitment and be amazed as the transformation begins.

Step 3: Recognize and embrace the thought that each moment is perfect regardless of its outcome Every time you hit on something that may appear too extreme, why not give it a shot and see if it will work. You will be surprised to see of there are other ways to get the task done in time. If you are not pleased with the outcome, decide to use that moment to learn from and make the appropriate shift.

Step 4:Dwell completely in a place of gratitude Learn to utilise what you have in your hands and make use of it in the most constructive way. Slipping into neediness will become less of a habit when you repeatedly shift towards gratitude, away from poverty consciousness.

Step 5: Use a Passion Formula of Recognise Re-evaluate and Restore In place of I should have / I would have /I could have done it this way. The former is based on increased knowledge and abundance while the latter focuses on scarcity and lack. When something goes wrong don't sit down and mope about, recognise your mistakes and learn from them for the next time

Step 6: Keep humour at the forefront of thought Laughing at and with your self when possible. You may find yourself quite entertaining when you loosen up! I am yet to see a comedian ever go hungry even though his jokes are as 'old as great-grandma'. Life has so much to offer to allow you to mope around in self pity. Humour is very attractive, very passionate: life-giving.

Step 7: Believe that you are the architect of your destiny No one can take your passionate future from you except for you! Create your life authentically. As long as there's still breath in your body, there is no end to how much you can accomplish in a lifetime. The concept of thinking big is all about enjoying your work, which would lead to celebrate a discovery that is born within your hands. Watch everything flow into place with perfect, passionate precision.

5 Tips for Identifying and Changing A Negative Attitude

1. Try to observe contrast rather than judge - When we judge, we do so out of a need to preserve our “Rightness”. If we can forgo the need to be right, and allow ourselves to just observe the contrast, we can suspend the need to judge.

2. Know what pushes your buttons - Try to notice negative feelings and what gives rise to them. Follow those feelings back to the inner beliefs which produced them. We feel angry when we hold beliefs and expectations that we feel are under attack or intruded upon. Remind yourself that although this is how the Ego was designed to function (self preservation), it has become too rigid in it’s functioning and prevents you from realizing inner peace.

3. Learning to let go - When we release ourselves from expectations and rigid belief systems, we free ourselves to adopt a more balanced and positive attitude. Remind yourself that your beliefs and thoughts are not the thoughts and beliefs of others. Nobody has to be “Wrong“, for you to be “Right”. Everyone has there own inner belief system and inner truths. We do not have to accept another’s thoughts, beliefs, or feelings as our own, we simply have to respect their right to have them.

4. Count to ten - Don’t be quick to respond or give an attitude. Get out of the habit of reacting to other people and situations. Attitude is a choice, and when we take a bit of time to think, to consider the source of our thoughts, and to delay our reactions; our attitudes can evolve and change.

5. Realize it is a choice - Your thoughts and feelings are your own. You must take responsibility for them and for everything they create. Rather than shifting blame onto others or outside of self, try to dig deeper into your own belief systems and change the underlying cause.

5 Terrific Tips for Students

5 Terrific Tips for Students
#A very ancient saying we made up just a couple of years ago:

"Anyone, even a fool, can learn from someone wise. But it takes someone pretty wise to be able to learn even from fools."

If you have a wise teacher, make the most of it. If you have someone teaching, or a school, which is somewhat less than wise, as most of us do, still make the most of it. Along the way, just in case, make careful note of the things which would, by example or by contrast, eventually enable you to become a wise teacher should you choose to become so. It's easier to discard options than to gain or build them — give yourself some room. Keep your options open and make more of them.

No. 1 Key to Effective Learning:
What you learn is wholly up to you. A few of us have been blessed somewhere along the way with a wonderful, wise teacher. Most of us have not. But people can learn usefully from a rock, a cocked eyebrow, someone's pause or hesitation, the word not said — indeed, from anything that you notice.

Notice things. See things for yourself. One picture seen can sometimes outweigh a million teachings. Pay attention to your own awarenesses — there's more there than you think! The people who have learned the best: they were their own best teacher.

Part of you already knows the stuff you're trying to learn. The trick is, to make enough of the matter conscious for you to resonate with where your understanding is, to bring THAT conscious for you.

  • Question A: What are some of the things you can do with what's in front of you, to make more of the matter more conscious for you, toward making that resonance happen?

  • Question B: What are some of the things you can do inside of yourself, to build more of the matter into your conscious mind to make that resonance happen?

  • Question C: How much of Question A can be answered by answering the question, "What are some of the ways you can use your physical senses, to make more of the matter more conscious for you?" Are there any parts of Question A which can't be answered directly through your physical senses? — If so, what?

  • How much of Question B can be answered by answering the question, "What are some ways to use your imagination to make more of the matter conscious for you, to make more of that resonance happen?"

No. 2 Key to Effective Learning:
Turn "dry facts" into memorable experiences. Use your imagination and involve all your senses.

Never settle for a situation in which you are staring at the information you're supposed to be learning and it's staring back at you, nothing communicated between. That just puts your intelligence asleep in that context. Imagine your way through as one of the participants in those historical events. Use your own body as a way to measure off diameter, radius, pi, other mathematical quantities and formula relationships. Imagine being the person who discovered the information you are now dealing with, and what that discovering experience must have been for him or her.

No. 3 Key to Successful Learning:
Success tip: "You get more of what you reinforce." Do more of what you do well, you'll do more well. Build from your strengths. Discovering your strengths — often we take these so much for granted that we don't even notice them, but you have some. What is it in yourself you'd like to see more of? How can you reinforce it when it happens?

Rising to a challenge is also something you want to be able to do more of. But while that sometimes meets with success, sometimes things go other than intended. How can we gain more benefit from, and learn from, our mistakes without giving them the kinds of attention which reinforces us into more mistakes? Past mistakes, we've already "paid our tuition for," can we get our money's worth of learning from that tuition, without punishing ourselves or otherwise reinforcing in us what went wrong instead of what went right? (Even punishment is reinforcement, not only rewards. The main natural law of behavior and psychology is the law of effect: "you get more of what you reinforce.")

No. 4 Key to Successful Classroom Learning:
This classroom tip is also a reflection of the law that "you get more of what you reinforce" — Everyone likes to be heard and listened to.

  • The listener can be very powerful. Just by listening a little more intently in one direction than another, he steers the person talking into one direction rather than another. The person talking often talks himself into something.

  • By your apparently listening intently, the teacher soon finds himself or herself talking more to you when he or she is teaching the class. By your listening intently more in one direction than another, you can steer the teacher's discussion without his or her noticing. When you give the teacher the feeling — subtly, not in CAPITAL LETTERS! — that you are listening intently, the teacher will respond to you much more, without even knowing he or she is doing so! And give you more of the attention that assures, from his or her end, that you really do get to understand the point of the lesson.

  • Among your friends, your intent listening — more in one direction than in another — will let you control events much more than if you were overtly the leader of the pack.

  • Not everyone who gets such special attention from teacher or classmates knows this consciously. Somewhere along the way, unconsciously, they've learned that to listen in a certain way gets results that they find pleasing.

  • To listen is not necessarily to obey. You are still your own person. If you've appeared to listen intently, then followed your own path, and appear to have good reasons for your choice, you will win respect — which will get you better listened to.

No. 5 Key, a Major Tip for Learning and for Life:
Talk your way through the key points or issues, WITH someone. The more you describe, the more you will see. Especially if you describe more of what you are actually seeing, less of what you "know." You know both more and less about the matter than you think.

Talk problems through with a pal, whether these are math problems, science problems, problems of the school, at-home or personal problems. Many of those crucial little things people miss, no one discovers until he or she has actually said it aloud, to a listener. You'll be amazed at what you pick up this way, that you had no hint or realization before that you were missing.

Take turns. Going through the problem, one of you describes everything that's going through your awareness as you do that, not just what you're "supposed" to be talking about. This gives the rest of your mind the chance to relate in its own way to the problem or issue.

Your pal is listener, not interrupting, just listening and urging you on if and when need be, until you hit your "a-HA!" instead of letting on how he's already figured things out. In your turn, if you see an obvious answer to your partner's problem, resist your urge to blurt it out, even if he's missing the overwhelmingly obvious. The more he wrestles with it himself, the more likely it is that he will not only find the answer that is best for him, but will become able to answer all such further questions of that type. He may even think of that answer days later, while doing or thinking about other things, thanks to having truly wrestled with the matter.

When it's your turn to describe freely and to have a go at solving the problem, allow your own ideas and perceptions, and descriptions of your ideas and perceptions, to surprise you — because often the best answer comes from unexpected directions if you let it. Nearly all of your brain thinks in sensory images at the back of your mind, very little of that fits readily and immediately into words. It's when we can bring conscious words and back-of-the-mind impressions/associations into one focus that our understanding flowers.

Your understanding can indeed flower — indeed the sheer JOY of your understanding can flower. The beauty you see in a diamond or a dew drop or a flower, you can also discover in an idea of how things fit together — and sometimes that understanding is useful, not only beautiful.

You are brighter than you think. Much brighter. That idea of how things fit together, go together, work together, combine into something new together, is a perceptual act, and not an act of rote memorizing of information. Schools and many teachers can't appreciate that.

We opened this by observing it takes someone pretty wise to be able to learn even from fools, which is what we all have to do at least a little of the time, in a world whose provisions for your generation are something less than perfect. It's wonderful when you HAVE a wonderful teacher, but you can't expect to have that all the time. Only YOU can make sure your learning is rewarding and effective. You can do that by making your learning mean something. These have been some of the many ways you can do that.

10 ways to boost your CONCENTRATION

  1. A candle flame – sitting in front of a candle and concentrating on nothing but the flame for 5 – 10 minutes will enhance your powers of concentration considerably.
  1. Stumbleupon – Stumbleupon 100 sites without stopping for a break. Great for traffic to your blog as well.
  1. Have a freezing cold shower – One of my favourites. Have a freezing cold shower. To take your mind off the cold think of all the things you are grateful for in life and your mind will be taken off the fact that your bits are almost frozen solid.
  1. Do one thing at a time – I have a huge problem with too much stuff going on in my head at once. I have so many ideas about different things it’s hard to concentrate. When I focus on one task at a time, it helps my concentration enormously.
  1. Get rid of worrying thoughts – Sometimes as you are trying to concentrate on a task other worrying thoughts will pop into your head; like you remember you’ve got to pick up some work from the office, you’ve got a meeting at the school, etc. To get rid of these distractions write them down on a piece of paper. This way you do not dismiss the thought altogether and you are telling yourself it is important enough to write down.
  1. Count from 100 backwards down to 1 – This may sound simple enough, and it is, however it takes a bit of concentration to do it.
  1. Recall a photograph – Study a photograph, which is unfamiliar to you. Do this for 5 minutes and then try to recall as much as you can about the picture.
  1. Spell words backwards – This is great for kids as well and has the added bonus of helping them to spell.
  1. “I went to the shops and bought…..” – This is a great car game and is a great one for concentration.
  2. Do mathematical calculations – When I am driving, I like to do some mathematical calculations in my head e.g. I have 20 miles to travel, I am travelling at an average speed of 50 miles per hour, how long will it take to get to my destination. Nothing huge but things like this are great for your concentration skills.

If you would like to add more concentration, why not leave a comment :)

Boost your self-image with these 5 steps

Cognitive behavior therapy techniques can help you unlearn thought patterns that contribute to low self-esteem. See examples of thoughts that can erode self-esteem and learn healthy substitutes.

Low self-esteem can negatively affect virtually every part of your life, including your relationships, your job and your health. But you can raise your self-esteem to a healthy level, even if you're an adult who's been harboring a negative self-image since childhood.

Changing the way you think about yourself and your life is essential to boosting self-esteem. Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) techniques are especially helpful in changing unhealthy thinking and behavior patterns. These techniques are based on the idea that your feelings and behavior result from how you think about yourself and your life. CBT techniques can help you recognize, challenge and ultimately replace negative thoughts or inaccurate beliefs with more positive, realistic ones.

These five steps toward healthy self-esteem are based on cognitive behavior therapy principles. As you go through these five steps, jotting down your thoughts, experiences and observations in a journal or daily record may help you use these steps more effectively.

Step 1: Identify troubling conditions or situations

Think about what conditions or situations about your life you find troubling and that seem to deflate your self-esteem. You may wish to change aspects of your personality or behavior, such as a fear of giving a business presentation, frequently becoming angry or always expecting the worst. You may be struggling with depression, a disability or a change in life circumstances, such as the death of a loved one, a lost promotion or children leaving home. Or you may wish to improve your relationship with another person, such as a spouse, family member or co-worker.

Step 2: Become aware of beliefs and thoughts

Once you've identified troubling conditions or situations, pay attention to your thoughts related to them. This includes your self-talk — what you tell yourself — as well as your interpretation of what a situation means and your beliefs about yourself, other people and events. Your thoughts and beliefs may be positive, negative or neutral. They may be rational — based on reason or facts — or irrational — based on false ideas.

Step 3: Pinpoint negative or inaccurate thinking

Your beliefs and thoughts about a condition or situation affect your reaction to it. Inaccurate or negative thoughts and beliefs about something or someone can trigger unhealthy physical, emotional and behavioral responses, including:

  • Physical responses, such as a stiff neck, sore back, racing heart, stomach problems, sweating or change in sleeping patterns.
  • Emotional responses, such as difficulty concentrating or feeling depressed, angry, sad, nervous, guilty or worried.
  • Behavioral responses, such as eating when not hungry, avoiding tasks, working more than usual, spending increased time alone, obsessing about a situation or blaming others for your problems.

Step 4: Challenge negative or inaccurate thinking

Your initial thoughts may not be the only possible way to view a situation. So test the accuracy of your thoughts. Ask yourself whether your view of a situation is consistent with facts and logic or whether there might be other explanations.

You may not easily recognize inaccuracies in your thinking. Most people have automatic, long-standing ways of thinking about their lives and themselves. These long-held thoughts and beliefs feel normal and factual to you, but many are simply opinions or perceptions.

These kinds of thought patterns tend to erode self-esteem:

  • All-or-nothing thinking. You see things as either all good or all bad. For example, "If I don't succeed in this job, I'm a total failure."
  • Mental filtering. You see only negatives and dwell on them, distorting your view of a person or situation or your entire life. For example, "I made a mistake on that report and now everyone will realize I'm a failure."
  • Converting positives into negatives. You reject your achievements and other positive experiences by insisting that they don't count. For example, "My date only gave me that compliment because he knows how bad I feel." "I only did well on that test because it was so easy."
  • Jumping to negative conclusions. You reach a negative conclusion when little or no evidence supports it. For example, "My friend hasn't replied to my e-mail, so I must have done something to make her angry."
  • Mistaking feelings for facts. You confuse feelings or beliefs with facts. For example, "I feel like a failure, so I must be a failure." No matter how strong a feeling is, it isn't a fact.
  • Self put-downs. You undervalue yourself, put yourself down or use self-deprecating humor. This can result from overreacting to a situation, such as making a mistake. For example, "I don't deserve anything better." "I'm weak, stupid or ugly."

Step 5: Change your thoughts and beliefs

The final step is to replace the negative or inaccurate thinking you've identified with accurate thoughts and beliefs. This can enable you to find constructive ways to cope and give your self-esteem a boost.

This step can be difficult. Thoughts often occur spontaneously or automatically, without effort on your part. It can be hard to control or turn off your thoughts. Thoughts can be very powerful and aren't always based on logic. It takes time and effort to learn how to recognize and replace distressing thoughts with accurate ones.

These strategies may help you approach situations in a healthy way:

  • Use hopeful statements. Be kind and encouraging to yourself. Pessimism can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. That is, if you think your presentation isn't going to go well, you may indeed stumble through it. Try telling yourself things such as, "Even though it's tough, I can handle this situation."
  • Forgive yourself. Everyone makes mistakes. Mistakes aren't permanent reflections on you as a person. They are isolated moments in time. Tell yourself, "I made a mistake but that doesn't make me a bad person."
  • Avoid 'should' and 'must' statements. If you find that your thoughts are full of these words, you may be setting unreasonable demands on yourself — or others. Removing these words from your self-talk can give you and others more realistic expectations.
  • Focus on the positive. Think about the good parts of your life. Ask yourself, "What other things have gone well recently?" "What personal skills do I have that have helped me cope with challenging situations in the past?"
  • Relabel upsetting thoughts. Having negative thoughts doesn't mean you must choose to react negatively. Instead, think of them as signals to use new, healthy thinking patterns. Ask yourself, "Which of my strengths can help me respond in a constructive way?" "What can I think and do to make this less stressful?"
  • Encourage yourself. Give yourself credit for making positive changes. Treat yourself as well as you'd treat a loved one. Tell yourself, "I did a good job on the presentation. It may not have been perfect, but my colleagues said it was good."

Achieving healthy self-esteem

With practice, these steps may come more easily to you. You'll be better able to recognize the thoughts and beliefs that are contributing to your low self-esteem. Because self-esteem can fluctuate over time, you may want to revisit these steps, especially if you begin to feel down on yourself again. Keeping a journal or daily log can help you track trouble spots over time.

Achieving a balanced, accurate view of yourself and accepting your value as a human being may help you feel happier and more confident. And that may rub off on others, too, including your children, family or friends

Five eventful years

When you wish upon a star,

Makes no difference who you are

Anything your heart desires

Will come to you

Friends, I am delighted to address you all, in the country and those living abroad, after working with you and completing five beautiful and eventful years in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Today, it is indeed a thanks-giving occasion. I would like to narrate, how I enjoyed every minute of my tenure enriched by the wonderful association from each one of you, hailing from different walks of life, be it politics, science and technology, academics, arts, literature, business, judiciary, administration, local bodies, farming, home makers, special children, media and above all from the youth and student community who are the future wealth of our country. During my interaction at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi and at every state and union territory as well as through my online interactions, I have many unique experiences to share with you, which signify the following important messages:

Accelerate development: Aspiration of the youth Empower villages Mobilise rural core competence for competitiveness Seed to Food: Backbone for agricultural growth Defeat problems and succeed Overcome problems through partnership Courage in combating calamities Connectivity for societal transformation Defending the nation: Our pride and Youth movement for Developed India 2020 Now let me share with you each of the messages. Accelerate Development: Aspiration of the youth While there were many significant events during my tenure, a question from a little girl Anukriti of Sri Sathya Sai Jagriti Vidya Mandir School, of Darwa village from Haryana, during children's visit to Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 22, 2006, rings in my mind ever after. Anukriti asked me "why India cannot become a developed nation before the year 2020". I appreciated the question and said it was indeed a thoughtful question and assured her that that her dream would be taken to the highest institution of the nation and we would work for it to achieve before 2020. This question reflects how the desire to live in developed India has entered into the minds of the youth. The same feelings are echoed by over fifteen lakh youth, whom I have met so far and who represent the dream of the 540 million youth of the nation. The aspirations of the young to live in a prosperous, safe and proud India should be the guiding factor in whatever profession we contribute.

Empower Villages Friends, I recall my visit to Nagaland on October 26, 2002, soon after my assuming office as President. It was a unique experience for me at Khuzama village to meet tribal village council members and discuss with them the village progress and the dream of village citizens. I was very happy to see the empowered village council functioning with financial powers and taking decisions. I saw a prosperous village with fruits and vegetables production. However, there is a need for providing physical connectivity in Nagaland through quality roads for enabling faster movement of products from villages to the market. That meeting gave me a powerful message about the transformation, which can take place to the 6,00,000 villages of India, if all the villages are empowered to deal with their development and are well connected among themselves and with the urban societies.

Mobilising rural core competence for competitiveness Now I would like to talk about the initiative of Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for Women, Vallam, Tanjore of Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) complex involving 65 villages with a population of 3 lakh. This includes provision of three connectivities - physical, electronic and knowledge - leading to economic connectivity. Periyar PURA has health care centers, primary to post graduate level education and vocational training centers. This has resulted in large-scale employment generation and creation of number of entrepreneurs with the active support of 1000 self-help groups. Two hundred acres of wasteland has been developed into a cultivable land. The villagers are busy in cultivation, planting Jatropha, herbal and medicinal plants, power generation using biomass, food processing and above all running marketing centers. It provides a sustainable economic development model for the whole region. During the last eight months, people of Periyar PURA villages technologically supported by Periyar Maniammai College of Engineering for Women have worked with experts from Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) on various products, for which core competence and raw material are available in Thanjavur district. They developed internationally competitive prototypes for 55 life style products with support of JETRO specialists and feedback from exhibitions at Delhi and Tokyo. This co-operative venture has enhanced the innovative ability of the people of all the 65 villages enabling them to develop and produce internationally acceptable products. I have seen similar type of PURA being established in many states. The whole country needs 7000 PURA to bridging the rural - urban divide.

Seed to Food: Backbone for agricultural growth Let me now share with you, the enriching experience I had, while meeting more than 6,000 farmers from different States and Union Territories visiting Rashtrapati Bhavan. They evinced keen interest in the Mughal Gardens, the Herbal Gardens, the Spiritual Garden, the Musical Garden, the Bio-diesel garden and the Nutrition Garden and interact with the Horticultural specialists. Recently, during my address to the agricultural scientists while participating in a National Symposium on "Agriculture Cannot Wait", I summarised the many practical suggestions given by farmers. We have to double the agricultural production with reduced land, reduced water resources and reduced manpower and improve the economic conditions of the nation through the principle of "Seed to Food" since agriculture is the backbone of the nation. We should empower the farmers to protect and nurture the fertile land for second green revolution. Meeting the scientists and the farmers has given me the confidence that the nation is poised to increase the agricultural GDP growth by at least four per cent per annum through the partnership of farmers and agricultural scientists and industries particularly for value addition.

Defeat the problems and succeed On the evening of February 24, 2007, at Coimbatore, I had a very beautiful experience. As I got ready for meeting the first person out of twenty appointments, a wheel chair was in sight with a smiling person probably in his late fifties; unfortunately he has no hands and legs. His radiant face was revealing his happy state of mind. He introduced himself as Vidwan Shri S R Krishnamurthy. I greeted him and asked him how this had happened. He smilingly said that it was from by birth. He thanked God, his parents, teachers and many others for giving him confidence, training and help. I asked him, what I could do for him? He said, "I don't need anything from you. I would like to sing in front of you". I readily agreed. He sang melodiously the Saint Thyagraja's pancha ratna kriti entharo mahanubavulu in Sriragam giving me a glimpse of his talent. I was quite touched. What is the message? Despite being physically challenged, the latent talent of music could blossom in this person with his positive attitude and perseverance, encouraged by the parents, teachers, academics and rasikas. Now he wants to give, give and give his art to inspire others. Of course, by his merit of music, in July 2007, he performed in the Rashtrapati Bhavan art theatre.

Overcome the impact of disaster through partnership I had the opportunity to experience the Indomitable Spirit of the people and children of Jammu & Kashmir even as they were just recovering from the devastating earthquake in 2005. I visited Urusa village on November 26, 2005, which has been adopted, by the Western Air Command, Air Force for providing relief and medical aid to the residents of that area. When I went there, I found that the school building had been severely damaged. I met all the school children and the village citizen of Urusa. The villagers apprised me of their losses and had all praise for Army and Air Force role in rescue and relief operations along with state government. I appreciate the courage of the people of Urusa in defeating their problems. They have actually become the master of the problem rather than allowing problems to become their master. Despite the severe loss due to the earthquake, the children and the members of the village participated in the relief operation with the Armed Forces bravely and were smiling when I went to meet them. They interacted with me and said that the school was functional in the temporary tents. Here, I also witnessed the participation of acting Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir along with State Government authorities in on-the-spot settlement of relief grants to be provided to the victims whose houses had been damaged in the earthquake. I have experienced many such acts of courage from our citizens when faced with severe challenges.

Courage in combating calamities In 2005, I met the Tribal Council Leaders, students, children of Chuckchucha village during my visit to Car Nicobar Islands. While various reconstruction and rehabilitation activities were in progress, during the discussions with the members of tribal council, I realized the unique trait among the Car-Nicobar islanders. Even though there were many human losses due to the Tsunami of December 26, 2004, the tribal islanders had taken possession of affected victims as their children and there is nothing like orphanage in Car-Nicobar Islands. Touched by their courage, I composed few verses called "Sea Waves" which reads as follows:

Sea Waves

We are the children of Sea waves,

Sea waves are my friends.

When they become angry,

Sea waves give the challenges.

God has given the courage,

To challenge the sea waves.

And we will succeed,

We will succeed

With Almighty's grace.

All the members who were gathered in the village sang the poem with me and exhibited lots of courage and enthusiasm even though they had gone through severe suffering during the Tsunami.

Connectivity for societal transformation I addressed the Pan African Parliament on September 16, 2004, at Johannesburg, South Africa. This was attended by 53 member countries of the African Union, where I proposed the concept of Pan African e-Network for providing seamless and integrated satellite, fiber optics and wireless network connecting 53 African countries at an estimated cost of US $ 100 million. As part of the project 12 universities (seven from India and five from Africa), 17 Super Specialty Hospitals (12 from India and five from Africa), 53 tele-medicine centers and 53 tele-education centres in Africa will be connected. The pilot project on tele-education and tele-medicine in Ethiopia has already been commissioned. Indira Gandhi National Open University has taken up the MBA Course for 34 Ethiopian students of Addis Ababa and Harmaya Universities. As regards, tele-medicine, the specialists from CARE Hospital, Hyderabad are providing one-hour live tele-consultation to doctors in Black Lion Hospital, Addis Ababa in Cardiology and Radiology since November 2006. Using the Pan African network the Heads of the State in all the 53 countries will be connected for instant communication. I am extremely happy that Indian experience in bringing the benefits of technology to the people has enabled us to work with Africa to bring societal transformation in the African continent.

Defending the nation: Our pride I visited KUMAR in Siachen Glacier located at 17,000 feet altitude held by the Indian Army, had a memorable underwater journey in INS Sindhurakshak and flew in a Sukhoi-30 fighter experiencing 2.5 g. In these three experiences, I personally felt proud of our ever vigilant Soldiers, Sailors and Air Warriors performing their tasks beyond the call of their duty even in the most adverse circumstances natural and man made. During the last five years, I had an opportunity to present colours to many regiments, participate in number of passing out parades, meet the troops who were going to undertake peace missions and interact with the family members of our Defence Forces. Our Defence Forces are in a beautiful mission. When the nation sleeps during night, Members of our Defence teams are awake to guard us and remain vigilant to counter any threat. The Nation cherishes the valour, commitment and devotion to duty of our Defence Forces. Similarly, I had opportunities to interact with members of our para-military forces, central and state police personnel including internal security forces who are making immense contribution in augmenting the safety and security of our citizens under difficult conditions.

Youth movement for Developed India 2020 Recently, in Hyderabad, I met a group of citizens who are putting into practice the motto of transforming of our youth into enlightened citizen. The Lead India 2020 Foundation created by Dr. N.B. Sudershan at Hyderabad is training thousands of students in many districts of Andhra Pradesh in partnership with the District Administration. Particularly, I happened to know the transformation, which has taken place among the students of Medak district. As per the district authorities the impact of the training on the students is visible in terms of self-discipline, love for their parents and teachers shedding of stage fear and recognition of their duties towards the nation. I talked to Ms. Padma, a student leader from Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare School, Nalgonda who related how she weaned her father away from smoking after imbibing the spirit of the 10-point oath from the Lead India Training Camp. This gives me an assurance that the youth of our country are on the right path through this mission-oriented programme. With the ignited minds of the 540 million youth below the age of 25, which I consider is the most powerful resource on the earth, under the earth and above the earth, we have to empower the youth through value based education and leadership.

Conclusion I was touched by the variety of Indian panorama, emotional content of the tune, cultural diversity and unity of minds in the vast land of ours. I have cited these examples just to give a glimpse of the richness of our tradition and effort being taken by different agencies to preserve it. There are also many new adventures by institutions and individuals. I have experienced many of them and learnt a lot about my country and our people. Even while pursuing our economic growth, we need to do a lot to preserve the rich and diverse treasures of our culture and civilisation. It is our duty for our future generations. This has to be done in a much larger scale through countrywide participation of multiple institutions. Our country is blessed with natural resources, has shown considerable progress in the last sixty years, and above all we have hard working people particularly the power of the 540 million youth of the country. Every sector of our country has given me the confidence that India can become a developed nation well before 2020. Whomsoever, I met they constantly ask what they can give to the nation. We should constantly strive to empower such members of the society. With this spirit, I am extremely happy that we are on the right path. Here I am reminded of a famous poem:

When you wish upon a star,

Makes no difference who you are,

Anything your heart desires,

Will come to you

This poem is true to all of us, and particularly for our youth and if they aim great, I am sure they will reach close to the target or the target. My dear citizens, let us resolve to continue to work for realising the missions of developed India 2020 with the following distinctive profile.

  • A Nation where the rural and urban divide has reduced to a thin line.
  • A Nation where there is an equitable distribution and adequate access to energy and quality water.
  • A Nation where agriculture, industry and service sector work together in symphony.
  • A Nation where education with value system is not denied to any meritorious candidates because of societal or economic discrimination.
  • A Nation which is the best destination for the most talented scholars, scientists, and investors.
  • A Nation where the best of health care is available to all.
  • A Nation where the governance is responsive, transparent and corruption free.
  • A Nation where poverty has been totally eradicated, illiteracy removed and crimes against women and children are absent and none in the society feels alienated.
  • A Nation that is prosperous, healthy, secure, peaceful and happy and continues with a sustainable growth path.
  • A Nation that is one of the best places to live in and is proud of its leadership. Finally let me thank each one of you for showering your love and affection on me throughout the last five years by your cooperation and support.

Dear Citizens, I conclude my address by sharing with you my mission in life which is to bring connectivity between billion hearts and minds of the people of India in our multicultural society and to embed the self confidence that "we can do it". I will be always with you, dear citizens, in the great mission of making India a developed nation before 2020.

May God bless you. Jai hind

Confidence comes from your internal power plant

Confidence is a strong, powerful force, when it is part of your heart; you have the ability to conquer any obstacles life may throw at you.

Undoubtedly, situations will come up where you may feel uncertain or less confident; don’t let doubtful feelings stop you. It's up to you and nobody else to keep going in times of uncertainty.

There is a saying, "Fake it till you make it.” You can pretend to be what you want to be until you grow into it. Try it. It's what a lot of successful women admit to doing when they are unsure.

It doesn’t take long before the power of your confidence resurfaces and you’re back on track to achieving your goals.

Creative Imaginations

Nobody is bored when she/he is trying to make something that is beautiful, or to discover something that is true

Origin of Motivation

Motivation forces acting either on or within a person to initiate behaviour. The word is derived from the Latin term motivus ("a moving cause"), which suggests the activating properties of the processes involved in psychological motivation

Get Rid of -ve thoughts

We all know it takes longer to undo a bad habit than it does to create it. This is also true with negative thoughts. It may take much longer to erase those negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts, but the effort is well worth it and more and more people are choosing to make that effort. Many choose to inscribe a keepsake with a special motivational quote as a way to reinforce positive thoughts.

Barriers and How to Overcome Them

Barriers and How to Overcome Them

So far everything is sounding pretty good. You have a goal and a step by step plan on how to accomplish, now it’s time to get to work, right? Wrong. Plans rarely go precisely as you intended. You must leave room for errors and hurdles and how to get beyond them. Maybe you calculate you will need $10,000 for a down payment on that dream home. You plan to put aside $200 out of every weekly paycheck for the next year. By the end of that time, you should have your down payment. Unless an emergency expense pops up you didn’t plan on. Then what? Plan for the unexpected when planning goal settings.

Once you have your plan committed to paper, barriers and all, it’s time to get to work. On the days when you feel discouraged or feel it’s just too hard, go back over your plan. Make adjustments if necessary. Make a point to glance at the picture of your goal settings at least twice a day; morning and night. Most importantly, believe you can do it.

R& D Goal

R&D
Research what you will need to do in order to complete your goal. Be specific. Find out exactly what steps or tools will you need to achieve your goal. Perhaps it’s saving enough money for a down payment and closing costs for that dream home or enrolling in college and completing a certain number of classes. Write down every step, no matter how small. Also write down what tools you might need to accomplish your goal settings. Necessary tools could be anything from the amount of money you will need for the down payment to school supplies.

Establish and define your goal.

Establish and define your goal

First decide what it is you want or desire to do with your goal settings. Perhaps your goal is to obtain something tangible, such as your dream home or a new car. Or your goal may be something that is less tangible, but will reward you with either tangible benefits or intrinsic rewards. Maybe you want to finish your college education or obtain a job in a specific field. When you define your goal settings, be as specific as possible. "I want to purchase a home by next summer." Or "I want to finish my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and graduate by next spring."

After you have established and defined your goal settings, remember that while it is written on paper it isn’t written in stone. You may need to make adjustments as you go through the process of obtaining your goal, but at least you’re now on the road to getting there!

What will be the significance of achieving your goal-what will be the outcome?
What will be the benefits of obtaining your goal? What is the purpose of goal settings for you? Purchasing a new home might enable you to have more independence or give you and your family more space or more security. Completing your education will allow you to work in a field you truly enjoy or give you more earning power.

Envision accomplishing your goal and believe that you can achieve it.
It’s easy to say you’re going to do something and quite another to actually believe you’re going to do it। Success of any action greatly depends on how much you believe in yourself and your ability to achieve. If you need to, tape a picture of your goal settings on your refrigerator, your bathroom mirror and anywhere else you can see it everyday. Okay, maybe you don’t even know what exactly what your dream house looks like, but you probably have a good idea. Browse real estate brochures and when you find the house that jumps out at you, clip that picture. Having a visible reminder in front of you everyday will help to keep you motivated.

३ Mantras

The Plan:
Success is not an accident. It begins with a well-conceived plan.

Action:
Just do it!

Believe it:
If you can dream it, you can achieve it।

Inspiring

" I believe everything happens for a reason. If something happens that I don't necessarily agree with or I'm unhappy with, I'll just remind myself to stay positive and trust that things will happen the way they should."

Positive Thinker

The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.

Everymorning spend atleast 5 minutes ..... Inspire and Motivate yourself with a proverb
